Dearey calls on Labour to support Croke Park agreement
Green Party Enterprise spokesperson Mark Dearey has called on Labour Leader Eamon Gilmore to clearly state his party's position on the Croke Park agreement.
Speaking during a Seanad debate on the agreement today, Senator Dearey said: "In what is going to be a tight outcome, a clear statement of support from Labour is critical.
"If this deal falls there will be the father and mother of a blame game to follow and some of that blame will rest on Mr. Gilmore if he continues to lay low on the matter.
"Clearly the deal has been honourably agreed by the negotiators in the national interest. It is of critical importance if we are to achieve control of our public finances and Labour should play their part in seeing that it is accepted, even if it creates difficulties for them among their supporters."
